Amazing Monasterevin!
As we drove up the long, tree-lined driveway we could already tell this property was going to be very beautiful but hardly did we know how unique and special this place really is. Monasterevin is situated on Fishing Creek, with a beautiful view of the water, a well-built dock, and a large swimming pool looking out to the water. The house is beautiful, spacious, and expertly furnished. The beds are all very comfortable, and the linens are high quality. There is a large screened-in porch with very comfortable seating (and a TV) - this was by far our favorite place to read and hang out. The kitchen and breakfast area are very light and look out to the water, where herons, ospreys, geese, gulls, and Eastern bluebirds parade around providing constant entertainment. There is plenty of other wildlife to observe as well; white tail deer are abundant and bald eagles nest along the driveway where they can often be sighted. We took the canoe out several times and explored the neighboring coves, fished off the dock for perch and caught so many crabs in our crab pot that we could barely keep up with eating them all. At low tide, our kids played on the sandy beach of the natural shoreline. They also roamed around on the 100+ acre property enjoying the vast outdoors. There are many magnificent things about this property, and I would highlight just a few. The sunsets are out of this world beautiful, displaying hues of orange, red, and pink that one couldn't have imagined existed in nature. The other most amazing natural phenomenon was the frequent light breeze, which made staying at Monasterevin even in the dead of a hot, humid August day a pleasant experience. I would be remiss not to mention the night sky - it's unspoiled in its beauty showing off all the stars and constellations there are. We recommend using a stargazing app - which can be a lot of fun for kids. Monasterevin is country-living at its best. It's surrounded by pristine nature, yet provides all the comforts and amenities one can desire. It's a short drive from Cambridge for grocery shopping, and an even shorter drive to several produce stands that sell vegetable, fruit, meat, and bread. We grew up on the Eastern shore, so have seen our fair share of waterfront properties large and small. Monasterevin blows them out of the park with its charm, natural beauty, great water and a milieu that exudes peaceful tranquility. An absolute must!
