DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendar and plan to join us for Oxford Day\, April 27\, 2024. \nOne of our most treasured events will begin at 8:30 – the Blessing of the Pets\, followed by the Talbot Humane Dog Walk which finishes at Town Park for the annual Dog Show. \nParade Route\nA Family Hour of fun games for all ages will happen 9:00-10:00 in Town Park near the swings. \nYou may enjoy bake sales and Oxford Museum Opening Day. \nThe Parade starts at 11 and marches right along Morris Street with an assortment of floats\, fire engines\, bands\, old cars\, walkers and animals—it’s always uniquely Oxford! \nPlan to relax\, walk about\, keep social distance\, and enjoy the day. \nIf you want to experience Oxford from the water\, visit the  Oxford Bellevue Ferry which has been in existence since 1683! The Oxford Ferry will welcome free walk-on passengers (one roundtrip per person) through mid-afternoon! \nOxford Bellevue Ferry\nYour hunger can be satisfied at many venues around town including\, of course\, our fine restaurants\, and also booths in Town Park and Causeway Park\, our churches and the Oxford Market. \nThere will be designated parking areas. \nBe aware that Morris Street and some side streets close to traffic before and during the Parade\, from about 9:30-noon. Allow extra time to reach Oxford boatyards and for moving about town. Residents should plan their days with the expectation of delays in driving. \nHistoric St. Paul’s Wesleyan Church On Morris Street\nFor a brief introduction to Oxford Day\, you are invited to watch this video. And after an afternoon of fun at exploration\, visitors can sample mouth- watering Eastern Shore cuisine\, supplied by local nonprofit organizations raise important funds for their or other worthwhile causes. \nFor newcomers to Talbot County\, becoming a Waterfowl Festival volunteer is a great way to meet new friends and discover the warm hospitality so characteristic of the area. The event often introduces many visitors to the area for the first time and many come back again to visit or to stay. Volunteers\, donors\, sponsors\, and staff carry on not just an autumn event\, but a treasured Talbot County tradition. \nBusinesses\, too\, are generous in their support of the non-profit Waterfowl Festival organization. Whether providing monetary contributions through its prestigious Corporate Partner Program and sponsor opportunities\, or donating services and products during the event\, the business community plays an important part in the festival’s success. Business support and contributions from individual donors ensure that the maximum amount of event proceeds is applied to the festival’s conservation mission. \nFrom its founding in 1971\, the Waterfowl Festival has been able to not only to share the unique Eastern Shore heritage with visitors but also help to preserve it. More than $6 million in proceeds from the Festival has been given away through grants for environmental\, conservation and education projects throughout the Delmarva Peninsula to preserve wildlife\, waterfowl\, habit\, and heritage for future generations. Countless young conservationists have been inspired by the festival which supports both educational programs and a scholarships program that offers assistance to festival’s student volunteers.
